College undergraduates Lily Owei and Keith Keenan don’t have a whole lot in common when it comes to their backgrounds. She was born in Nigeria, where she lived for seven years before moving to Germany, then South Africa, and finally to the U.S. to attend Penn. He grew up in China, where his mother and father taught English and homeschooled him. From these diverse beginnings, however, they have come to share a common interest—and workspace—in Assistant Professor of Chemistry James Petersson’s lab group.
