Assistant Professor Zahra Fakhraai is one of three Penn faculty to receive 2015 Sloan Research Fellowships. Zahra, whose group studies the effect of nano-confinement on structure, dynamics and other properties of materials, joined the Chemistry Department in 2011.

The Department of Chemistry will host a celebration of the life and career of David White at Penn. Please join us in the Lynch Lecture Hall on Thursday, March 12 at 3:00pm. A reception will follow in the Nobel Hall of Fame.

Chemistry major, Chemistry submatriculant and graduating senior, Vinicius (Vinny) Ferreira received a prestigious Thouron Award for graduate studies in the U.K. where he will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Physics at the University of Cambridge.

The Activities for Community Education in Science (ACES) program, started by graduate students Kelsey VanGelder (Kozlowski Group) and Lyndsay Wood (Winkler Group), hosted its second successful science event for children.

Jeffrey Winkler has been elected to the John Morgan Society of the University of Pennsylvania. The Morgan Society, the oldest honorific biomedical society in the country, was founded to stimulate research in basic medical science by promoting favorable conditions for such investigations through fostering communication between its members.

Chemistry major Moses Adenaike received the NOBCChE Bayer Undergraduate Fellowship. As part of the fellowship, Moses traveled to the 41st Annual Conference held in New Orleans in September.
