Help Support the Ralph and Lucy Hirschmann Visiting Professorship

For over a decade, the Hirschmann Visiting Professorship has enabled the Department of Chemistry to host world leaders in multidisciplinary areas of chemistry for extended visits to deliver lectures and interact extensively with our students, faculty and researchers. We remain indebted to Ralph and Lucy for their generous annual support over the years. And with the blessing of their children, we are now reaching out to Ralph's colleagues, students and friends to help us continue to fund the Professorship they so generously initiated.

As you well know, Ralph enjoyed a career as a distinguished and prolific scientist and esteemed educator. During his fifty-plus years at Merck and as a faculty member at Penn, he provided sage advice and counsel to thousands of individuals at every stage of their careers, offering inspiration for students and colleagues alike. Ralph's service to our profession is legendary. It is therefore highly fitting that he and Lucy be honored in a way we believe would be meaningful to them both. Our goal is to raise $250,000 to fund the Hirschmann Visiting Professorship, of which the Department will provide $150,000 (thanks in large part to a generous gift from the Hirschmann's estate).

We hope you will join us in making this effort a success. You can provide a gift hereat the link below. If you have any questions, please contact our Department Administrator, Mr. Chris Jeffrey, at cjeffrey@sas.upenn.edu.
