Undergraduate General Chemistry Laboratory Position

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for an instructor position in the Undergraduate General Chemistry Laboratory. This is a nine month, non-tenure track appointment with a flexible starting date of January 2009. Responsibilities include general chemistry laboratory instruction and curriculum development; supervision, mentoring, and training of Teaching Assistants; and supervision of laboratory technician(s). The instructor will serve on departmental committees and will advise the Department Chair, Executive Director and Undergraduate Chair on matters related to general chemistry laboratory instruction. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Chemical Education or Chemistry, a strong interest and demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching and curriculum development, and outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.
