Amos Smith Awarded 2014 Nichols Medal

Amos B. Smith III has been selected to receive the 2014 William H. Nichols Medal by the New York Section of the American Chemical Society. This distinguished award, established in 1902 by Dr. William H. Nichols, for the purpose of encouraging original research in chemistry, is the first award authorized by the American Chemical Society. It is presented annually in recognition of an outstanding contribution in the field of chemistry.

Marisa Kozlowski named ACS Fellow

Marisa Kozlowski is one of 96 distinguished members of the American Chemical Society to be named a 2013 ACS Fellows. The 2013 Fellows represent 28 National Committees, 30 Divisions, and 49 Local Sections of the ACS. The induction ceremony for the 2013 Fellows will be held at the 246th ACS National Meeting in Indianapolis, IN on Monday, September 9, 2013.

Leslie Shinn wins poetry book prize

Ms. Leslie Shinn, coordinator for the College Biochemistry Program and the Roy and Diana Vagelos Scholars Program was awarded the 2013 Lexi Rudnitsky First Book Prize in Poetry for her collection, Inside Spiders. The prize includes a cash advance and publication of her collection by Persea Books. It also includes a residency at the Civitella Ranieri Center, a renowned artists retreat in a fifteenth-century castle in Umbertide, Italy. See more here.
