Chemical Approaches for the Study of Complex Biological Systems

Abstract: Fluorescent probes are essential in biological and medical research.  These tools help to define the spatial and temporal dynamics of critical processes and also enable diagnostic analysis and rapid high throughput screening. In this presentation I will describe multidisciplinary initiatives focused on the development of novel probes for the study of complex biological systems.

Penn Chemistry Hosts Inaugural MacDiramid Lecture

Penn Chemistry welcomed special guests for the first ever Alan G. MacDiarmid Medal Lecture. This lecture series has been instituted as a way to both honor some of the most distinguished leaders in their fields of chemistry and to celebrate Alan’s incomparable legacy at Penn. The recipient of the Medal was Richard Schrock, and we were joined by Alan's wife and Alan's grandson.
