Mass Spectrometry Facility

The Mass Spectrometry Facility of the Department of Chemistry contains a Micromass autospec high resolution instrument in Electro-spray-Ionization & Chemical ionization modes with OPUS software system. A low resolution "walk-in" Micromass LC Platform is also available 24hrs/day - 7 days a week, using ESI technique. Another low resolution "walk-in" Agilent GC/MS is also available on 24 hrs/day - 7 days a week, using CI technique.

These instruments are used by the synthetic research groups for the determination of accurate mass and elemental composition of gas, liquid, and solid samples. Electron, chemical, and Electro-spray ionization techniques can be used in positive or negative modes. Gas and liquid chromatographs can be interfaced to the mass spectrometers for mixture analyses.

The Director of the Mass Spectrometry Facility is Dr. Rakesh Kohli.
